Mehmet Erol Evgin was born on April 16, 1947, in Istanbul. A prominent figure in Turkish pop music, Evgin rose to fame particularly during the 1970s and 1980s. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University and began his music career during his student years.
Erol Evgin is especially known for his collaborations with lyricist Çiğdem Talu and composer Melih Kibar. Songs such as “İşte Öyle Bir Şey”, “Sevdan Olmasa”, “Bir de Bana Sor”, and “Hep Böyle Kal” are considered classics of Turkish pop music.
